Elderly Checks
If you are over 65 our specialist nurse Pat Kelly will make arrangements for you to have an annual check-up at home or at the surgery. This service provides physical, psychological and social care for the patient and their carers and where appropriate treat or refer on according to their individual need.
Diabetes
The practice offers a specialised diabetic service. You will be invited several times a year for a review. If you experience any problems between your reviews please speak to the practice nurse. If you feel you may have symptoms of diabetes i.e. weight loss, blurred vision or increased thirst, then book an appointment for a simple test to exclude diabetes.
Phlebotomy
We offer appointments for blood tests at the practice. Some clinics start at 8.30am, ask at reception for an appointment. Your results are usually back and have been reviewed and commented upon within 5 days. Your results are your responsibility, please call for results after 2pm.
Family Planning
We provide full family planning services including emergency contraception, condoms and depo injections. Please make an appointment with the Practice Nurses via reception for advice on any of the above.
Sexual Problems
If you are worried that you may have contracted any sexually transmitted disease, it is always best to seek medical advice. YOU can attend the GUM (genitor-urinary medicine) clinic at the Royal Oldham Hospital without seeing your GP but check clinic times first on 0161 627 8394. This is a confidential service.
Chlamydia checks can be done via this surgery. For any other sexual problems such as impotence, premature ejaculation or painful intercourse your GP is the best source of advice initially.
Child Health Services
Child development assessments are carried out when your child is 8 weeks old by your GP, along with the child’s first immunisations by the practice nurse. 2nd, 3rd and all other immunisations that your child needs will all be done here in the surgery by your practice nurse
Your child will be sent for when the 8 week check and 1st immunisations are due, any queries please phone the surgery on 0161 785 9240 and ask for Danielle.
Minor Surgery
A variety of simple surgical procedures are undertaken including
- joint injections,
- cryotherapy surgery (freezing),
- treatment of in growing toenails,
- excision of cysts, moles and skin tags.
Appointments may be booked through reception.
